I woke up after a dreamless night feeling as tired as I did before closing my eyes. Groaning in frustration, I changed positions, trying to fall asleep once more. In that moment, I noticed I wasn't covered in my soft sheets, nor lying on my fluffy bed. I panicked, I forced my eyes to open, fighting against the urge to sleep.
The fist thing I saw was green, every shade of the calming color was displayed in front of me, for a moment I was in awe, forgeting completly about the fact that I had awoken in a completly different place.
I sat up, feeling the soft grass caressing my fingers. I looked around trying to figure out where I was. After a few minutes simply observing the trees around me, the only thing I had clear is that I was in a forest, one I've never been, but at the same time I had the feeling that I should now where I was. It was a gut feeling, something I couldn't explain with words. It was there, but at the same time it wasn't.
I stood up and started wandering around. I didn't know where I was going, I just let my feet guide me around while I took in my surroundings. The trees where so big that I couldn't see where they ended, the roots where thick and stuck out of the ground, making me look constantly to the ground making sure I didn't trip on any. My bare feet brushed the soft grass, tickling me slightly. From time to time I would step on a root or a plebble, hurting my feet.
I kept wandering for what felt like an eternity, sometimes ducking under fallen trees, others jumping over them. But I just kept walking with no direction whatsoever. Caresing the tree trunks as I passed by them. My mind blanck as a slate. Letting my instincts do all the work.
After a long time, I fimally saw something that picked my interest. An oak tree old as time itself stood proudly in the midle of a clearing. The tree trunk was thicker that any other tree around, the branches were as long as the infinite, the leaves fell softly gliding on the air around de tree. I aproached the tree slowly, once again a feeling of recognition settled on my mind.
Once in front of the tree, I had a new yet familiar feeling, one I could never explain with words. I looked around the tree, feeling the trunk with my fingers, following what seemed like symbols carved on the trunk. I outlined the simbols with my thumb, I knew I had seen those symbols somewhere but I couldn't remeber where nor what they meant. After going arond half the tree, I saw a familiar alphabet, I followed the words, outlining the letters while I read them.
Old as life itself a single god shined among the others, its name...
My brain shut down the moment I read the name, a name I was familiar with, a name I new my whole life was carved on the tree. A single name that meant everything.
My name.
